Guidance for healthcare providers - healthcare workers returning from risk areas or who have had contact with possible or confirmed cases of COVID-19

Publication Date: 28 February 2020

The guidance on this page provides guidance for healthcare providers who have traveled to risk areas for COVID-19 or have had contact with possible or confirmed cases of COVID-19.

The term healthcare worker (HCW) is used here to refer to those who work in a healthcare setting within and outside the NHS who may come into contact with patients, including clinical administration staff and care home staff.

If our understanding of COVID-19 changes then guidance will be updated. Always check this website to ensure that any guidance you are using is the latest version.

Further additional guidance and information, including links to guidance for travellers and the general public, can also be found on the our novel COVID-19 page.
